Real Food Mojo is an online home for seasonal, surplus-based food skills - created to make food feel more doable, more empowering and more connected to real life.
This platform exists to share practical knowledge, lived experience and realistic approaches to food, helping people build confidence, reduce waste and move towards more sustainable eating habits - without guilt, judgement or perfection.
Food is everywhere, yet so many people feel overwhelmed by it.
Rising costs, confusing messaging and pressure to “do it right” leave people feeling anxious, stuck or disconnected from food altogether. At the same time, huge amounts of perfectly good food are wasted, and many people want to make more sustainable choices but don’t know where to start — or feel they don’t have the time, money or energy.
Real Food Mojo exists to bridge that gap.
It focuses on real-life food skills:
- Using what you already have
- Cooking with the seasons
- Making the most of surplus and leftovers
- Building confidence through small, achievable steps
This isn’t about being perfect. It’s about feeling capable.

Everything on this platform is designed to be practical, accessible and useful.
Inside, you’ll find:
- Short, clear video lessons showing food skills in action
- Downloadable guides and prompts you can return to
- Step-by-step food journeys and projects
- Content shaped by real kitchens, real budgets and real lives
The learning is flexible, self-paced and designed to support different levels of confidence and access.
Food education should be empowering, not overwhelming
Sustainability needs to work in real life, not just in theory
Small shifts matter
Confidence grows through practice, not pressure

Real Food Mojo is led by Katy — a real food advocate with years of experience working at the intersection of food, sustainability and community.
Through hands-on work, Katy has built practical knowledge around:
Seasonal cooking
Using surplus and reducing waste
Supporting people to build confidence with food
Making sustainable food choices feel achievable
This project brings together that experience with a strong belief that food education should meet people where they are - and help them move forward at their own pace.
